    One way travel question

So, I started looking at JetBlue airfare from JFK to AUA for our annual late March to mid-April. Since the second week of our trip coincides with Spring break, of course, direct flight roundtrip airfare is out of control (over $1,000 per person). The outgoing flight, however, is reasonable at $258/pp. Has anyone ever booked their outgoing and return flights separately? I know there may be limitations given this is foreign travel. I see the seats toward the front of the plane on the outgoing flight (our preference) are starting to book up so I really want to get this portion purchased as soon as possible and hope that the return trip flight drops (or I can use another airline). Thanks for your input.

Thanks Arubalisa. I read the thread but I'm not sure why there were no tickets for that person (did they wait until the last minute to purchase)? I would never wait until the last minute or when the flight was full, but we're still 8 months out so I have some time (and hopefully some different options).

A few years ago we traveled down on Jet Blue from JFK and came back with Delta with no problems at all. Booked it way in advance.

Thanks Terry. I did notice that Delta's return flight is a lot cheaper than Jet Blue's (so we may end up doing what you did)!!

hi , we will be going 17 days ( can"t wait) 6th trip... we booked each way at different times for this trip with no problem on Jet blue....also even if you book for a higher amount and the fare goes down you can get a travel credit from Jet blue....good for 1 year!!....have no fear!

We have always booked separate airlines for our flights to and from Aruba. We've saved money and it has always worked out great.

Buying one way tickets is my plan for this year. There is always a big difference in price between the 'to' and 'from' legs of the trip.

Same here, I've always purchased one ways from Boston to Aruba. The flights change in price so frequently it's worth it.
