    Our return flight canceled, Aruba Airlines, according to our TA!

    So last night I’m printing our conformation for our flights and I wanted it on paper showing that we paid taxes and fees for my planned argument with the ticket agent at the gate that is trying to charge us additional “airport taxes”. So I print it out and it is showing taxes and fees. I notice there is a link on Explorer Cruise and Travels website (our TA, through USAA), I click on the link and I see that we are scheduled to return on 10/30 not 10/29 as we booked and the conformation says. A long story short, we are on the phone after hours with ECT and they said they left a message on our phone about the issue (liars), they put us on hold and called Aruba Air and told us that they said the flight on Saturday 10/29 was cancelled (more BS). The lady said she can’t do anything, as she is just the afterhours person but they will take care of us and to call today. We didn’t purchase insurance.

    We haven’t packed a thing yet, yes we are behind schedule and have a ton of thing to do today including closing some jobs/work. Looks like we will have an extra night in Aruba.

    I hope this all works out for the best..... I'd be like a mother bear protecting my cubs if anyone screwed with my Aruba trip!

    Thanks CP, it was pure accident and luck that we found out now. We could have arrived at AUA 10/29, no room, no jeep and 3 large suitcases😳 . The resort is showing room type like we have available but I doubt they'll give us the Cyber Monday rate we payed last November. More4less might have to get his BIG guys to come after the jeep, we ain't giving it up😜 . Really wanted to have a day to recoup after we got home. I guess we'll have to suffer.

    i did not realize that you used a travel agent. i thought you had booked it all yourself.

    Sorry to hear of your nightmare dealing with phone calls. The good news is you have an extra night in Aruba, however, I totally understand how you need a day home to come back to reality. I am always exhausted the first day home, not to mention what if you had to go back to work that day? Good Luck with everything and hope you enjoy your trip! Not sure about the cyber monday deal goes if you need to adjust a day or 2 but one time before I knew about the cyber monday deal at Divi I called after my trip was booked as I saw a special, they told me they could give me the lower price (just this one time) and it worked out for us. Sounds like you are allowed one change per trip once booked at least at DIvi.

    Maybe you can call the hotel and ask about offering you the deal??
    I know I just booked a hotel for one day precruise and wanted to stay 2 nights.. after getting on the phone the lady gave it to me..
    What I said was..(almost all the time when I call anyone and it reallly works). "good afternoon... how are you? Oh I am so blessed !!!! then I explain to her what I needed... end the conversation oh thank you so much and please have a very "blessed day" this usually works for me all the time..
    my co workers always ask me to call the dr's who aren't so nice and how can they yell at you ...

    On the plus side... it's an additional day and not one less day.... again, I hope it all works out.

    Exactly what I was going to say CP. Now, if it were rescheduled for a day earlier I would have a problem!

    Another option would be to pack up, turn in the jeep and spend a night at the Renaissance. Use that last day to relax on the private island and/or take in the downtown area, then grab a quick taxi to the airport the last day. That would save you a little on jeep for an extra day vs cab fare to the airport. Not sure that matters to you, just an idea. There are lots of things walkable in the downtown area, as I know you don't like to sit still on your trips. This could be a way to get a relaxes last day before your flight home.

    The situation is not good. It happened to us last year when United cancelled the Sunday nonstop to Dulles, but instead of adding a day they took one away. Since it was their change, we were able to get a refund. We just booked with another airline one way to get home the day we wanted. Have you considered that as an option?

    It stinks having your trip changed without your knowledge but at least it was not like Tracey's situation and you lost a day. I hope it works out to your satisfaction.
