Sannic44, I am most sorry for you. I am sure there's a lot of fans out there ready to meet you, and lots of books to sell. Lets hope this doesn't turn into another strike circus.

Last year I got stuck in one of the slow down strikes at the airport. I was planning on coming down for my birthday this weekend but I am changing plans as I have no desire to go through that again.

Here is a couple thousand dollars not going into the local economy because of their threats.

Strike

This is crazy, 25%, we didn't even get raises. People are losing jobs. We are lucky we had some money put aside and are going to Aruba this year. Going on strike wouldn;t be good for their economy there are other islands to go to that may not be so greedy.Settle for a little less and be grateful

Anyone who frequents this page knows how much I love Aruba. That said....even the hint of a strike makes me sick. Last year, it was a mess.

With the stress of a bad economy...this is not what I need when my trip is just 10 weeks away. I swear, if I have to put up with a strike this year, I will find a new vacation spot for 2010 and thereafter.

How can we get in touch with ATA to voice our concern? Let them pass the info along. How about Aruba Today, maybe an article on the disgust of the tourists and their reactions to the strike?

[quote=Arubalisa;130568]Pack your clothes in a carry on!!! Don't we all wish we could request 25% raises and hope we get at least half. Nowadays if we have jobs, you are lucky to get a raise at all. Dh received a whopping 2% raise this year which was more than eaten up by increased contributions to medical insurance. <<<stepping off my soap box.>>>

ArubaLisa,
We just got word that we will receive no merit increases this year, but we still will pay a higher premium for our medical insurance....sucks.....
