I just emailed one of my contacts who works in administration at a major hotel, that person has heard nothing about a strike by airport workers!

i just got an email from someone that works at the airport (us customs)
he told me not to release his name or his email

but i did copy and paste his quote

"What strike or job action? Your inquiry is news to me and to my coworkers"

The report I saw was in the Aruba Today and mentioned a deadline for late this week in the negotiations. I have been watching the Diario and Bon Dia where the same thing was mentioned.

So far, nothing else. I will continue to watch for signs of activitiy.

I've just read all 6 pages of the posts. We were caught on the tarmac for 2 hours last March when leaving for home. That was a wildcat strike by the baggage people. There had been a few demonstrations during our week there and some additional traffic because of it, but we never felt threatened or in danger. We are going back this Saturday and have been speaking to a Dutchman I know who lives on the Island. He has not heard anything about a strike but was familiar with the wage demands.

I'll try and post once we are on the Island. I'm breaking my rule and bringing a laptop this time. I never get a raise...or even a paycheck...unless I generate income for myself so this time I'll spend some time working.

i always get frustrated when folks criticize those that bring their laptops while on vacation

some folks NEED to bring their work with them

now, back to waiting on the job action or lack of action status.

    thanks for your post
