Saturdays at Aruba airport
Has anyone travelled in/out of Aruba on a Saturday since Christmas? Planning on taking the family to Aruba next year in late Jan 2011 and travelling on Saturdays. We usually fly to/from Aruba on a Friday and it's not too bad. What should we expect at the Aruba airport for a 1:30 pm departure on a Saturday compared to a typical Friday?
Thanks |

We departed Aruba one year on a Saturday during the month of September (low season) and in 19 trips it was the worst we have seen it. We vowed never again would we depart Aruba on a Saturday.

we too usually fly weekdays, typically weds or thurs.
if you have to fly on saturday, get to queen beatrix airport 3 hrs early. accept the fact that there will be lines and crowds. if you go into it with acceptance and patience it will make for an easier venture. |

I knew I should have traveled a day or so before...I will regret this decision...or just have to be patient which is not easy for me.

We've flown out of Aruba the Saturday after Easter and will be doing it again this year. I imagine that has to be one of the worse Saturdays of the year. It's not pretty, but it's not horrible as long as you give yourself plenty of time. I think we usually give ourselves about 3 1/2 hours, and we've gotten through and to the gate in about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours.

We just did, came home a week ago today. It was INSANITY when we got to immigration and they also didnt have a gate for us when we arrived so we deplaned on the tarmac. Leaving wasn't so bad at all-as we were flying Jet Blue, we didn't have wait in line at all to check in but all the other airlines were super busy. Based on what I have read on the forum, if I had the option, any day OTHER than Saturday is a good idea! Oh, and we also waited an hour on the tarmac for a trolly truck to push us away from the gate so to sum up, Saturday is a busy day at the airport.

Granted this was 2 years ago but we flew in and left on Saturday and it wasn't that bad for us. Of course we didn't know what to expect either way so that may be why it didn't seem so bad?! We're doing it again in March. Our timeshare is Saturday to Saturday.
