july is a busy time on aruba.

even low season is still pretty busy.

low season can be from May to early june , sept - week b4 thanksgiving, week after thanksgiving til week b4 christmas.

summers are busy....certainly not as busy as christmas or carnival, but certainly not slow in the least.

Though it is low season, it is summer. Kids are out of school, Aruba is a family island and it will be busy.
Saturday to Saturday is a prime timeframe for all timeshare owners. Most timeshare owners own "fixed weeks".

Is it the arrivals and departures that are so bad -- or just departures (or arrivals)?
The departures are the worst. For arrivals...

We have never made it through Aruban Immigrations and out to the baggage carousel and had our luggage waiting for us. I am going to say on average it takes us a "good" 45 minutes from the time we are off the plane and out of the airport.

Imo, it is just not realistic to be on the beach an hour after your flight touches down.

If you can switch to Friday, yes, why not. If not, at least you are going to Aruba!

We have traveled on saturday for the last 4 years (both ways) in the begining of March and it's not that bad. We had a snow storm in NY one year and had an hour delay and that's the worst we had. Yes there are lines but they move and if everyone keeps calm and laughs it goes quick. It's vacation and we're going to Aruba so it's worth any lines we have to stand on to get to sit on the beach and not be in the cold.

My thoughts exactly - at least I won't be at work and heading to warm weather!
And coming home...who is in a hurry for that?

We also have been traveling on Saturday for the past several years. Our departures have been 1:50 and Bully has been picking us up at 11:00. Is normally not bad but is does seem the lines grow rapidly after we're there.

We don't have many options. Saturday and Sunday are they only days we can fly and make it in one day. All other days takes two both ways.

I know the airport well and know how busy it can get. Saturdays hands down is the worest. Do the Sat to Sat thing but just dont come to the airport with a hour to spare, keep in mind the airlines want you upstairs at the gate a hour before your flight. Remember to get you bags BEFORE going through US Customs, and fill out your forms. The wait lines are not bad in US Customs, its the lines to check in, and security checkpoints that will hold you up. You can breeze through US Customs on a adverage Saturday under 15mins.

We have traveled with carry-on's for several years now. And I just found out last March that we could print out boarding passes at the hotel the morning of our flight; that way we didn't have to wait in line in the terminal - went straight to customs, etc. Did save about a half hour on a Sat. flight (or maybe more - depending on which airline you fly -- AA is the worst).
