    side trip to Curacao

If taking a day trip to Curacao, is it better to buy your tickets before leaving for Aruba, or can I wait until I get to Aruba and buy them there. Whould the fare be the same?

The fares do go up as the flights fill up. We booked Tiara Air for a day trip to Curacao while in Aruba a few days prior. But we would have had more choices of flight times and fares on other airlines if we booked earlier.

Wowser! For that kind of money I would rather just get a night at the Renaissance and spend 2 days on the private island.

    i hear ya arubabob.

paul and i are going to aua may 4 - 18.
we are staying at the renaissance ocean suites may 11 - 18 using an interval trade.
i had planned on surprising paul for an anniversary gift of magically turning the first 7 days of the trip to a week on bonaire. (when we arrive in aruba on the 4th i wanted to be able to say to paul........hold your horses, we have another flight to catch to bonaire......Happy Anniversary!)

but the additional air and tax is ridiculous as is the cost of a week's accommodation since there is no interval trade available .

i DO NOT understand the high tax.

if folks choose to pay it, that is their business......i will not.

I have been thinking about that tax. Does it give a breakdown? I bet you have to pay Aruba departure tax AND Bonaire departure tax along with those other taxes.

Are there other options to island hop? Was thinking of doing day trips to curaçao or Bonaire too?

For our one day trip to Curacao on Tiara Air we paid approx. $120/person for airfare. Only thing additional was departure tax leaving Aruba and leaving Curacao which was about $30/person each way (we paid this in cash at the airport.) But I've heard they've lowered the departure taxes since we flew to Curacao which was in 2010.

I know we looked into a day trip to Bonaire at that time also and the airfare from Aruba to Bonaire was much higher than Aruba to Curacao.

Also check DAE for airfare, too, and check various dates. As with any airline, fares go up and down with the wind depending on a variety of factors.

For fun, I just plugged in May 17 for a one day trip to CUR on DAE and the total for one person was $112 RT (plus the departure tax you will pay at the airport.)
