    SWA had a sale

SWA had a sale that ended last night

BUT, my husband just informed me that he got us our miles credited back to our accounts as he saw an email promotion from SWA yesterday afternoon!
He then called SWA, and got us 8218 miles each credited back into our account as the fares had dropped that much.

The SWA ticketing person said to him, wow this is a great deal using so few points.
She said, if you were paying $$ it would still be a wonderful deal. $203.06 r/t on SWA MCO to AUA

So he then said, what the heck, throw the rest of the miles back into our accounts and lets pay $ for the air tickets.

He did well and it too no prompting(badgering) from me.

That is good wheelin' dealin'! Points are expensive to buy, dollar for dollar.

Sounds like you trained him well Andrea So if you travel SWA and the price drops you can get a credit? Just wondering as I just booked my friend's flight to AUA on southwest. If so I will have to keep an eye on it for him.

He did AWESOME!! My flights weren't on sale to do that

Don't worry about missing the sale, though. I don't think SW sales aren't that great anymore. I can NEVER find the cheap fares they advertise. There may be 1 fare at the sale price on a day and time inconvenient to a place no one wants to go. However, we have limited choices flying from CLE or CAK or PIT.

It may work differently with points, so I can only speak to dollars. But yes, if the fair drops you can get credot for the difference that has to be used within 1 year of the booking date of the original flight (not the travel date). If you get multiple credits it does get a little tricky when you go to use them but we did this last year.

    tracey got it exactly right.
the dollar difference is put into a flight credit.
that flight credit must be used 1 yr from the time the original flight was booked.

re: the rapid rewards (miles/points) they are put back in the accounts in full with no restrictions.

tracey went to hell and back this past trip re: her flight credits. swa did not make it painless for her and jon.

The lesson I learned is only to request the credit if it is a significant drop. Try to get one big credit instead of getting credits for every price drop. For example, don't call for a $15 lower price, wait and see if it goes $50 or even $100 lower and try to only have 1 credit per person. Also make sure it's someone on your reservation that you travel with normally.
