This past June my daughter-in-law brought an orange for my grandson. Customs pulled us out of line and we had to wait about 15 minutes before a supervisor came over to us to lecture us on the fact that oranges are not allowed to be brought back into the US. However, he did say that taking bannanas back was OK. Go figure.
Citrus canker in the U.S. is a big issue in the citrus industry and very difficult to eradicate. The USDA is erring on the side of caution.
Thanks Dom, like I said good day bad day, go figure. I know years ago I was stopped coming off a cruise. I had 2 apples on the top of my carry bag Yep they took them. I hoping they don't take my pre packaged fruit cups this time.
