Thanks for posting...lots of flights coming in around the same time as ours if the schedule is the same next Sunday.

yup , should be about the same schedule.
weekend arrival and departures are often a testing of one's patience.
there are a fortunate few who always seem to never have to wait.
maybe you will be one of the fortunate?

We got pretty lucky on our last trip, a new line opened right in front of us. Doesn't really matter, we'll be in Aruba!

veering way off topic sort of:
i find the older i get the less patient i have become especially "waiting"

we travel to and from aruba on weekdays.
most lines are short and move quickly..which is terrific.

we visit epcot and magic kingdom usually 1x a week during the school year (we live <30 miles from there)
this past friday we were there early (our usual 9 am) and it was crowded already.
we are used to NO waiting.
but it was busy and the wait for thunder mountain was 15 min and we passed.
wait for haunted manison was also 15 min and we passed.
imagine becoming so impatient that we were not willing to wait only 15 mins?

i need to change my attitude and work on my patience

My problem is more about feeling claustrophobic in crowds. When we landed on a Wednesday in November there must have been a bunch of planes that came in all at once. The escalators going down into the immigration area were on and dumping people into the crowd with nowhere for them to go expect to push into those in front of them. The Aruba airport people finally turned the escalators off which helped the situation, and then opened two extra lanes. For me its not so much the waiting, but listening to all the people complaining about the waiting when there is nothing anyone can do.

But just to bring it back on topic, I feel so bad for those whose flights are cancelled.

When we arrived, early on Friday jan 16th, 1:45, we were next in line at imigration first time ever. We left three weeks later. Caught a cab from Renaissance exactly three hours before departure time and were sitting at gate 55 minutes later, even after a quick stop at Sabraos. I wished I had stayed at pool an extra hour but Ya never know.

Another dumb question from a newbie...
Usually just cruise and never flew into a "country or island." From reading this we go through imigration when we get there and leave?
I am really no a patient person either... After working all week and being the most patient person in the world: I just can't do it outside
    the facility..
Thanks guys. So glad I found this site.

No dumb questions here, but yes, you go through Immigration to enter Aruba. On the plane they will give you a form to fill out with your infomration and where you are staying, how long, and some questions about customs. Try to remember to have a pen with you on the plane. You show the form and your passports to an Aruba immigration officer and they send you on your way to pick up your luggage and start your vacation.

Coming home is an adventure, best to be prepared. The standard rule is get to the airport 3 hours before your flight. Check out this website, it gives the full details for US Departures. (not sure how it works for Canada) http://www.arubabound.com/getthere_early.htm

When we get to the baggage claim area and I have to start waiting for our luggage...and our ALWAYS seems to be the last to arrive,,,,,I just head over to duty free, pick up a couple bottles (capt and vodka) and leisurely venture back to my Dh who by then is taking bags of carousel. That is the only way I can manage the wait. We usually are lucky and don't have a long wait at customs coming in....
It's leaving that kills me....things run smooth till you get to the cattle call going back thru us customs, then I pout because i am going home....no longer excited, just depressed.......
    ARUBA....HOME AWAY FROM HOME
