Thanks for looking into guys. I've worn the travel sites out for our week. There was always some issue. Either getting there too late, a layover and/or changing planes more than once on the way back, seats not together, or using US Airways. But, I worked it out. Instead of driving to Memphis, we are going to drive to Atlanta. There we'll catch a non stop to Aruba (JUST BOOKED!!!!). Memphis was going to be a decent drive for us. Atlanta isn't that much worse. Besides, I don't like to fly, and my gf has never flown. So there will be less flying and no connecting this way.

I started to wait til Tuesday to book since I heard that the prices change then. But, there was only two seats together on one of the flights. I didn't want to miss out. Besides, I'd be suprised if prices went down.

Someone asked why I didn't want US Airways... I read some things that turned me off. So, I asked a friend of mine at the office if he'd ever used them. And he told me that he'd used them once and that on his flight an engine quit and he had to turn around and go back to Charlotte. That was all I needed to here. I want to feel good about this trip and I knew if I booked US Airways, I'd be apprehensive about it. So, its just about my own peace of mind.

Anyway, sorry for the long post. But, I'm SO EXCITED!!!

Glad you booked finally. I hope you realize that an issue can happen with any airline?? We have flown Delta from Atlanta before (if that is who your flying with) and we enjoyed the flight, service very much. We used points on Delta years back but they are no longer partners with the airline we fly with. When checking on flight prices, unfortunately, Delta has become one of the most expensive ways to fly to Aruba.

I just bought two tickets for Xmas time yesterday. I checked every single airline and finally booked with US Air. The tickets were cheaper by $500 each than anyone else. We have flown to Aruba on different airlines and they all have good and bad. As far as safety goes, things can happen on any airline. Next time you go to Aruba, look for the cheapest flights and don't be so worried. They are all good airlines... for the most part!

The more conditions you have, the harder it is to find a flight. And if you refuse to fly every airline that has had an inflight engine failure, you're going to be spending a lot of time in the car or on a boat.

Really? Gee, I didn't know that. I thought that US Airways was the only one that has ever had an engine failure.

As I said before, I don't like to fly in the first place and I didn't want to feel apprehensive about this trip. Spending a little extra for peace of mind is worth it to me.

My philosophy #1 ....if the pilot thinks it's safe enough to fly....I'm going.

My philosophy #2.....if the plane is going down, please God, may it be on the return flight.

I would say that if you wanted peace of mind that you should fly Quantas, like Dustin Hoffman, but even their record hasn't been all that good lately.

We fly Continental out of EWR and a few years ago we had a problem with the plane we were on,there was a problem with the engine. We stood on the runway than when back to the terminal, they fixed the problem......no one even asked to change planes we just wanted to get to Aruba...Sick but TRUE.

we have gone thru "incidents" while on numerous airliners

2x on delta we had aborted landings

1x on aa we had an engine flame out or do something that caused it to fail 5 minutes after taking off

1x on jet blue we h ad a tire blow out on landing

stuff does happen

the only planes that i won't fly are the commuter props
