    U.S Air never Again!

We leave tomorrow for our trip to Aruba. I got a lovely call this morning from a u.s air recording informing me our flight from boston to philly has been canceled. Called them to make other arrangements and was left on hold for 2 hours and 25 minutes. When I finally got to someone the man was the most rude person I have ever dealt with. Ended up getting on a later flight but now instead of arriving on Aruba at 12:20 we don't arrive until 2:30. I will never fly with u.s air again, man am I missing Jet Blue right now!

I feel the pain..... JetBlue from Boston is my only choice. At least US Air is getting you there.

Consider yourself lucky, at least you got a call. Last year they changed a flight on my daughters without an e-mail or call. My daughters were scheduled from Aruba to Charlotte from 5:00 to 8:00 and from Charlotte to Providence from 10:00 to 12:00. They changed it without notification from Aruba to Charlotte still 5:00-8:00, but then leaving Charlotte at 7:00 for Providence. That isn't a mis-print......arriving Charlotte at 8:00 and departing Charlotte at 7:00. Yup...arrive at 8:00 depart at 7:00, both PM, both the same day...quite a difficult connection, wouldn't you say?

I was lucky that I checked on line a few days before the flight, for no reason other than my usual paranoia. When I called US Airways, they were clueless, as in, what's wrong with those flights? Stupid, stupid, stupid.

You know what is even more stupid? I'm flying with them again in September....now that is stupid.

as rob said, you were lucky to get the call!

at least you will arrive in aruba and only 2 hrs later than the original time.

unfortunately though, 2:30 arrival on a sunday afternoon will be very congested in immigration hall.

relax though, you are less than 24 hrs out from "the happy state of mind"

    safe travels

You may get lucky on your 2:30 arrival. We had a mid afternoon arrival on a Sunday in February and prepared ourselves for a nightmare, but actually breezed through immigration faster than our Wednesday a rival in November. In the last few months trip reports seem to indicate immigration hasn't been as bad on arrivals lately. So I guess expeCT the worst but hope for the best. Glad it all worked out for you in advance and just remember the end result is Aruba!!
Not sure when, but we will be back

Wow, I would really find that upsetting. Glad you were finally able to get a later flight though.

We only fly Jetblue, they seem to be the most dependable airlines. Arriving at 2:30 isn't that bad, you'll still make happy hour !! Lol enjoy your vacation , send us a few trip reports !

In Jan of 2014 we took a flight from MCO to San Juan. First flight and direct. Leaving at 8:00 am getting there by 11:00 am. Plenty of time to drop off luggage and tour the island. Ship didn't leave till 10 pm
They cancel the flight till the next day. No phone calls either just that bright red flashing light... "flight cancel"
OMG !!! thought I was going to lose it. They offer us a flight leaving in 3 hours from Palm Bay telling us it was only 90 minutes away.
Grab the offer. Go get our luggage to find out that the airport is 2 1/2 hours away and we already just use up some time.
Wanted to go back to give that guy a piece of my mind but had no ticket to get to him..
No time to get a rental. So we took a taxi. Half way there cabbie told us "cash" only.
Cost $500.00 most expensive cab I ever took... five minutes to spare to catch the plane.
Airline did refund our taxi fare and gave us credit for future flights. After I wrote a very long letter with the weather for that day, and map quest.
Others we not as lucky since they couldn't get a flight till the next day and to St. Thomas.

We cant complain about a 2:30 arrival. For years our only option here in Tulsa was American Airlines. Our flights were TUL-DFW-MIA-AUA or TUL-ORD-SJU-AUA. Our flights left between 8am and noon and we arrived in Aruba between 7pm and 10:30 pm if the flights were on time. Our return flights were AUA-MIA or SJU-DFW-TUL. Our return flights always left between 8am and 9am and we arrived home sometime between 6pm and 9pm. This makes for very long days and a lot less time on Aruba, especially if you only stay a week. It feels like 5 days instead. About 5 years ago Delta added a 6am flight to ATL from TUL. This allows us to fly TUL-ATL-AUA and back. We have to get up at 3am for the flight but it is well worth it. We have a 2 hour flight to ATL, a 1 hour to an hour and twenty minute layover and a 4 hour flight to AUA. We arrive at 2:25. Return leaves at 3:30 and we arrive home at 10pm. We always dreaded the flight but not the destination. The worst part of those earlier flights on AA was the fact that we had to go through customs in Miami airport which most of you may recall was a nightmare. Very long enclosed corridors to travel until you arrived at the customs area. Connecting flights sometimes having to wait for passengers to clear customs. Hated it. Now flying is a breeze compared to what we had before.

it got worse, as I'm typing this we are just over the tip of FLA. Leaving boston this morning we were delayed for an hour due to "computer failure" with US air. Luckily we made it to Philly in time to make our connector. Others were not as lucky. Get on the plane at 9:30 scheduled to take off at 9:59, we sat at the terminal until 11:00 o'clock. The only reason we were giving was "undisclosed reasons". So now my original flight I was suppose to be on the island at 12:22, after a canceled flight, delay due to computer issues, and sitting at the gate for an hour and a half i now won't arrive until 3:30....... My wife and I have herd nothing but horror stories about this airline form a lot of other passengers. Like I said in my original post NEVER again!
