Okay, Mazoo, you had me cracking up. and i am totally with your wife. I said I don't care about going home but just get me there. If I'm forced to stay a few extra days, I'll deal with it, lol. I just got the email yesterday telling me about the change of times. coming home they just changed it ten minutes later for the flight so that's not even noticeable. and the woman explained the reason we went from 7 am to 10:20 am instead of the 9am flight is because we were flying first class and the 9am had no first class seats left so we had to take the next flight.

Walt, if you're talking to me, lol, yes, I still hate them. I loved Continental, United could care less about their customers. I would have preferred they took the 10:20 people & put them on our 7 am flight. United needs some serious competition, that will be the only thing that gets them up to snuff. Otherwise, they basically have a monopoly and not just Aruba. they are the only game in town that flies to most places direct.

However, I noticed Jacki said she is flying southwest out of Newark. I didn't know they fly to aruba, something I am going to have to check out. I heard they were a really nice airline.

Walt, I am no longer just a United customer. We like Jet Blue too. I've been trying to use my miles for over 2 years and this was the first time they fit our schedule and budget. I think 75,000 miles is fair for a non-stop from Newark to Aruba, which I got. Sometimes its 150,000 RT miles, which i think is unfair. The good news we are going back to Aruba. By the way we lost our timeshare week at ABC this year due to a dear family member's passing. It was turning into a concern ( IE: money ) for us to get it, from others that felt they owned a gold mine, even though they never went there. We went on that Kandy's List for ABC and Casa Delmar and found a better located room then we had for the past 5 years. We got $700 for the week for a studio in a great spot. After seeing those prices, we gave up trying to buy the timeshare. Its hard to explain to some people, but the comfort of going the same week and same place year after year has become another great reason to come to Aruba. We love catching up with the same guests . Like a mini forum on the beach, getting restaurant tips and different destinations that someone you know recommends. Thanks to this forum, even though we are newbies here at ABC, ( some people we met have been coming for over 35 years ) we can add some cool places we have been too, that they never went to. Phillips Animal Garden, Ostrich Farm, Young Fellows for dancing,Black Pearl, Zeerovers and our famous fishing trips are a few things some of the regulars missed that we found on this forum. They also share a wealth of information to us. We especially love to hear about "Old Time Aruba" when nothing was really here. So to bring this post full circle " We are a United*Family" at ABC.

150,000 miles for Aruba is insane - is that for one person or two - coach or first class? We use our Delta frequent flyer miles for first/business class to Europe on a regular basis and only use 125,000 miles per person (non-stop to Paris, Amsterdam, or London) for what is normally a $4000 flight.

Yes Amy. Right now United wants 70000 each way 1 person with one stop over business std. They don't have any milage seats open fot the Saturday or Sunday for the week we are leaving. That's 6 months out! It is very hard to get economy seats RT non stop for the itinerary to Aruba on United we need. Who knows how many seats they make available? The flight we want is $1,071 now. With one flight cancelled leaving Sunday and them combining 3 flights into 2 there will be no price drop we guess. Plus only Lmtd. economy seats left.

That's crazy. I never use our Delta miles for Aruba but I had to look it up to see how many they charge. If you are flexible with your dates, it's 40,000 miles RT per person for coach (I did see it as low as 35k) and it's as low as 60,000 RT per person for first class. This is out of MSP with an ATL connection.
