What time to get there???

So, my flight home from Aruba is at 4:20pm on a Thursday with AA.
If we get to the airport around 2'ish, we should have plenty of time to get thru the lines, ya think??

A week from tomorrow we arrive, HOORAY!!!!!!

Three hours is the "rule of thumb". Some will say it is rediculous, some will say they would have missed their plane if they had not allowed themselves that much time. Some will say that is only on a Saturday, some will say it does not matter.

In our experience, we give ourselves about 3 hours including travel time to the airport. So if our flight is at 3:20 pm we schedule our pick up for 12:30 - 1 pm.

Of course allow yourself more time if you must turn in a rental car.

As Lisa said, it depends on who you talk to. We get there about 3 hours prior (on a Saturday).
I prefer to get there, get thru all the lines, to the gate and sit there for an hour, rather than rushing thru, stressing out that I'm going to miss the plane. Not the way I want to end my vacation!
I watched my SIL get there 2 hours prior and saw her freaking out the entire time and I just kept telling my husband better her than me! Our flight left an hour later than hers and we were in line together the whole time. When they got to their gate they were running to get on the plane because they were about the last ones!

Give it 2 1/2 hours to be safe. We did 2 hrs last October and cut it very close. We gave it 3 hours in January and got through security in 25 mins. It is unpredictable and it is better to be safe.

we traveled thursday to thursday in jan/feb
we allowed 2 hrs on our departure
flew AMERICAN AIRLINES
no problem
had time to eat and to play the slots.
fri /sat/ sun departures you should allow 3 hrs.

I agree, mid-week you can get away with a little less.

Totally agree...I'd rather get thru all the lines and processing and relax at the gate than freak out because we didn't allow sufficient time.

I depart on a Wed. and will feel comfortable being there as advised 3 hours prior, hate to leave, but at least I can get through and than relax and think about all the memories I left with and start planning another YEAH

Just tell Bully what time your flight is and he will tell you what time he will pick you up in order to have enough time.
