Sorry for your dilema .... Fortunately for us, my wife (also a teacher) likes going when school is out for the year and I am able to fly mid-week. This July is a little over 1100 rt for the 2 of us on JB from Boston.

Prices are higher this year and staying high. Business must be picking up.
JetBlue gives travel credits if prices go down, but you have to call them. Yapta.com will monitor prices for you and notify you when prices change. I always book early, get the seats I want and then let Yapta monitor prices. I have receved thousands of $$ in travel credits from JetBlue.

I paid $1249 each when I bought my tickets in July for the Feb/March trip we just took. By the time we flew, using YAPTA, the flight was $749. Still higher than other years but the price dropped 6-7 times and the money is in my JetBlue bank for next year. It was a non-stop flight.

Do you get a credit for the full amount of the drop every time it drops, as long as you call? I assume it is a phone call and not an on line request?

You get credit for the full amount. They determine the credit by each leg of the trip. Sometimes the first flight drops and other times the return flight drops. You request the credit on the phone. You have to use it within a year.

Also, if you use credits to buy next year's tickets and the price drops, they return your credits with the original date so it's likely you will lose them before you can use them again.

Your best bet is to wait for a lower price to minimize the credits you get, minimizing your cash outlay and the credit shuffle.
