We take the late flight and always risk it. Always stop by the Paddock for one last one. If you are a gambler take a morning dip and have a Bloody Mary to say goodbye to the best vacation spot for sun and fun. 1 1/2 hours before departure will do it. Worst thing that happens is you are stranded another day in Aruba.

our flight leaves at 6 and we usually get there between 3 & 3:15 and always have enough time for a couple of drinks at the One Happy Bar. its just that you never know.

Great post, I am thinking about taking that early American flight next time. We took it once and there really were no lines anywhere, except waiting for US customs to open because we were there too early. I like the option of that early flight, that last day is torture just sitting around waiting for the inevitable.
Not sure when, but we will be back

When we arrived at the AUA non-USA terminal this past Sunday (March 1st 2015), the airport had shut the terminal doors and stationed security guards in front of them. There was a large crowd of people standing outside under tent coverings. I wasn't sure what was going on so approached the door and said, "Air Canada?" and the security guard let us in. We were there the prescribed two hours in advance.

I'm still not sure what was going on.

What time was that? Everything was okay when we came through that afternoon. Lines were long but moving at a good pace.

I think it might have just been crowd control and they might have only been letting in people that had flights leaving within the next two hours. The weird thing was that the terminal wasn't crowded at all - there were more people outside (in the sun/heat) than in the terminal... we sailed right up to the check-in counter.

We had always allowed for 3 hours for our 2:30-3:45 flights home. Sometimes we needed all of it. However this year with a 3:40 flight out on a Friday, we arrived at 1:00 pm and were sitting at the gate at 1:50. A new record, I think the new passport kioshas had something to do with it. All I could do was pout that I missed an additional hour at the pool before returning to the tundra.
