Meds In Aruba - Extended Stay (months)

We are going to Aruba end of Feb. and DH will return to So. FL in May and I'll return in September. What does he do about his meds? Does he need to make appts. with Dr.'s in Aruba? Any help would be appreciated.

It is my belief ( from past readings) that you cannot get a prescription filled in the local pharmacies or "boticas" unless it is written by an Aruban doctor. I believe that you would need to make an appointment at one of the local clinics, and I also suggested, in a previous post about "forgotten items," that you make or obtain a copy of your prescription to support your claim for a refill, in order to save time with the local Aruban physician.

Another possible suggestion would be to ask your US physician to order a "vacation prescription override" refill for each medication, that you would take with you just before you leave, to cover the time period you will be away. This is a ONE TIME ONLY request that would have to be made by your MD with your insurance plan.

I was able to get a vacation prescription override here in the states before my trip. I dont believe you can get a prescription filled in Aruba unless an Aruban doctor writes it.

Meant to say beginning of Feb! Thanks for the replies - I printed this out for DH and he'll talk to the Doctors.

You are very Welcome. Have a great time!

In addition to talking to the doctors, make sure he talks to the agent of your insurance plan. They are the key. Have a great time.
