Openning a bank account in Aruba

Has anyone openned up a bank account in Aruba? If so can you tell me what the banks need and how long it takes to open one up? Is one better than other or are they the same?

thanks

it takes nothing more than some money to deposit.
positive identification (passport)
pretty much the same rates
we did have a cd from one of the banks there a few yrs ago at a very good rate of return. it was timed right so that it came due during one of our visits.

double check about online access to the account

If you are not an Aruban resident

· Valid passport.
· Valid ID - we prefer not to use driver's license, because copies made are not readable (only for Venezuelan clients) .
· Two bank references addressed to Aruba Bank N.V. or to client's name.
· If subject has only one bank, than a personal reference is required from a lawyer or notary.
· Employment letter a/o salary slip.
· Reference letter from employer
· Chamber of commerce documents if self employed (own business).

I found CMB better to deal with. Aruba bank was a nightmare.

the reason why there is so much red tape is because after 9/11 the movement of any money has to be proven not to belong to any terrorist cells. I have had no problem with RBTT

We deal with RBTT which has worked out well. I even have the cell phone number of the girl I deal with and have reached her at home when she was off sick. She also responds immediately to any email I have sent her. We have online access to our account and we can set up or stop any of our automatic payments online.

They did require two letters of recommendation when we opened the account.

Last week we opended an account with CMB on Palm Beach Road. It only took us four (4) days from the time we completed all of the paperwork at the bank until the time of our approval. As long as you bring all of the required paperwork as listed above, it is a fairly easy process. We did also receive ATM cards and on-line banking access.

Regards,
David

Thumbs up Opening a bank account

We would like to open a bank account when we go down. Could someone please tell me the name of the bank across from the Renaissance Ocean Suites and what they require? Do they have online banking? Thanks in advance!!
