    teaching in aruba

    hi guys,

i'm new to this forum. i really love the island.
i was wondering if there might be any teaching positions open in Aruba?
i would really love to move to the island and teach.
i can do math & physics & i'm not very concerned about salary size as long as i have a place to sleep and some food.

    thanks in advance

Are you fluent in Dutch and Papiamento?

hi and welcome to the aruba.com community forum.

as act says...fluent and dutch would be the first question real important and if the answer is no, probably a deal breaker.
if you are a dutch national that would be good too.
with all things considered.......it would be a tough job to snag.
you might also want tot consider the international school in aruba.

slightly off topic...i have a dear friend who teaches 1st grade for an international school in Baku, Azerbajon (sp?)
she loves it and had other opportunitues in other countries in the caribbean, but chose where she is now.

The international school is your only hope and even that will be slim. The only time non dutch people can move to the island and work is if there is a job that nobody is qualified for on the island. An example would be a surgeon.... they have plenty of teachers on the island so it will be an uphill battle at best. If it was easy I would be a wellness teacher in Aruba, lol. Best of luck.

Thank you all for kind words and regards!

I do not speak neither Dutch, nor Papiamento. And I'm not dutch. I'm fluent in english & russian though.

I've been doing science (to be precise - particle physics) for a long period of my life and kinda want to switch to something quiet and relaxed.
I really liked the island and I thought that teaching might be an option, since they obviously don't need particle physicists there
I have a teaching experience (I gave lectures to students a lot) and besides math & physics I can teach statistics as well.

But I guess all of you are right, the chances aren't that big.
I'll take a look at this International School though.

But any additional advices & comments are very welcome!
