    Amex GlobalTravel Card---ugh

So in the past I raved about how wonderful this card is...

tune changed yesterday....went to AAA to get a new card and to load some $$$$ for vacation. Where's your old one Amex asks. Gone, lost, had no $$ on it so I guess it's disappeared. They look up number. It had 2.00 on it so therefore they( Amex) says it's still active. Ok, it's gone and active in some trash heap. Where's your backup one they ask. I don't know I say.

sorry we can't help you then. WTF! I said donate the 2.00, sorry we can't take your money. Cancel it all... Sorry can't.

ok new approach.... send me a new card with the same number as the one in the heap. Yes we can do that but it takes 5 business days. Nope that doesn't work as I leave in 5 days....maybe if I pray hard enough St Anthony will make the backup appear .......... still looking

so so folks head the warning....im none to happy

a great card if you don't loose it. Lesson learned here. ugh

    well that stinks cindy!!

on this particular trip we too amex travelers checks.
we have not cashed any as of now.

when we get home, we will deposit them back to our credit union acct.

why let amex hold onto our funds and line their bottom line?

Cindy - did the rep work for AAA or AMEX? If it's the former, I'm not surprised... If it's the latter, I'd call AMEX immediately and tell them what happened: their whole premise is superior customer service...especially for travellers.
