Bringing frozen meat to Aruba

I have taken Meats/Steaks/ and sandwich meats down to Aruba for the past 3 years. I have always had the steaks/meat frozen and packed in a separate rolling cooler. I have never had a problem with the airlines. And since most meats are imported from the US, there is no issue with customs in Aruba.

last year for the 1st time we took some frozen food on a PolarBear Cooler and I was happily surprised to see upon our arrival to the hotel that most of the ice cubes hadn't even started to melt (the trick is to pack things tight, i.e. try not to leave much open space in the cooler). I can assure these PolarBear coolers really work! Just google Polar Bear coolers and you'll find some good deals too.

We bring omaha steaks with us every year - also saugy hot dogs - we have either put them in a small colaspable cooler OR as Amy does wrap them and put them in the luggage and they are still frozen when we get to Aruba...if you use a cooler like we did it was a carry on and I bought frozen canned juices to keep the meats cold and we have our juices as well...just an idea for anyone who is interested in doing that - we usually stay for 2 weeks and this works for us this year we are staying 3 weeks so it will work for us also don't want to spend all my money on restaurant since I buy some clothing/jewlery/prefume and dutch porcelain...

AND - I also bring a 1/2 turkey breast/mashed sweet potatoes/green bean casaerole (a thanksgiving combo dinner from Omaha steaks)

We are planning our return trip to Aruba after falling in love with it on our honeymoon - and this time we're bringing others with us! To save some money - and more importantly saving from too much time away from relaxing - we are bringing some food with us and buying some when we arrive.

When we were there before, we ran into many who said they had brought meat with them from home (USA) but we are reading up and seeing that bringing meat in is prohibited?

i was/am one that brings frozen and cold food.
i do not know if aruba customs has changed, but what i see now is that
what i do is not allowed.

• 200 cigarettes or

Prohibited

• Illegal drugs
• Guns, explosives and ammunition

• Precious stones
• Perishable foodstuffs requiring refrigeration
• Plant and plant products
• Foreign soil
• Pets and animals without prior permission
• Dogs, cats, monkeys and parrots from South America
• Meat and meat products
• Counterfeit money and goods

Restricted

• All animals being imported into the country will require a Veterinarian Health Certificate from the country of origin issued less than two weeks prior to your arrival. Dogs and cats will require an additional Rabies Inoculation Certificate proving the animal’s protection against the disease. Dogs and cats less than four months old are exempt from requiring any rabies vaccinations providing prove of the animals age is included on the original certificate.
• Leather imports of Haiti origin are unlikely to be accepted into the country.
• Log and limber products from Liberia including posts, poles, tables, crates and tables are all prohibited from entering the country.

Hello there! We are going to Aruba for a past 16 years, and always have food brought with us. You can can find everything in a stores, including meat( high quality), but- certain things, like Lamb Chops, T-Bone stakes, we kind of used to our taste, and that`s why we bring this stuff from US..And just check in this luggage, and nothing will happend.

You can buy great quality meats on Aruba, so why bring it? We buy it at Ling & Sons, Superfood and Kong Hing. I don't know the prices of meat in the U.S., but Aruba is way cheaper than the Netherlands.

I agree. We do bring something for the first evening and breakfast the next day.
With the airlines charging for extra weight and bags it is not worth it.

I mail a mate of ours on Aruba our shoppinglist a few days before we arrive, when we arrive at night on Aruba he has done a little shopping for us, so we have cold Balashi and a little breakfast fot the next morning.
And it has become some what of a ritual of ours to start our first morning of our stay on Aruba with a visit to Ling & Sons.
