Are there any open air markets in Aruba where one can buy handicrafts and
even fresh produce?

there's the open markets by the crystal casino in downtown. they are all like little open stalls with everything from license plates, not kidding, to jewelry to clothes to souvenirs, etc. can't say for food though. didn't notice that.

Keep in mind, all "fresh" produce is imported.
