    Best Shopping/Groceries near Bucuti

Hello! We will be traveling to Aruba for our first time in December to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We will be saying in the low rise district, Eagle Beach, Bacuti & Tara. Is there a place to purchase groceries/alcohol in walking distance to Bucuti? We are planning to travel to downtown one day for shopping. Where do we travel to specifically and where is the best shopping? What time does the city 'shut down?'

welcome to the aruba.com community forum

the bucuti is closest to the Ling Bros (IGA ) supermarket.
it will be a 5 minute cab ride.

if you are planning on going downtown, you may want to avoid days when the cruise ships are in as it is crowded
    and
avoid sunday as many shops are closed.
if you are taking the bus get off at the bus station, walk back 2 streets to "Main st" and if taking a taxi, ask the driver to let you off at main st.
you also may want to also head over to the "seaport marketplace", it is next to the marina/and seaport casino.

once downtown, all shopping is within easy walking.

you may want to purchase your alcohol at your duty free shop at your airport OR purchase duty free in Aruba's airport, just outside the baggage area. the selection is limited at aruba airport.

Thanks for being so helpful! Is there any need to do a lot of planning/reserving prior to arrival or just wait until we get there. I have read that the concierge staff at Bucuti is outstanding.

Hi! Welcome to the Aruba.com Community Forum.

There is also the shops right at Alhambra Casino - they have retail shops, Dunkin Donuts & Juan Valdez, The Market which is a great little mini-mart & souvenir shop, a few restaurants, etc.

if you are going to be in Aruba fter Dec 17, i would say for you to make your reservations NOW.
aruba has a slower tourist season from after labor day thru mid December.
everything picks up a few days before Christmas.

if there is something that you know now that you want, make the reservation yourself now.
(particular restaurants, snorkel/pirate/sunset sails, island tours etc)

i have always heard great things about their concierge staff there.
