duty free liquor leaving Aruba
is there anything tricky about buying duty-free liquor on leaving Aruba?
I'll have a stopover in Atlanta on my way to Seattle, so do I need to buy the booze and then pack it into my checked bags? Or do they do a good enough job of packing it at the DF store? Is the allowance coming in to the U.S. 1 liter per person? I go to the DF store before the U.S. customs checkpoint, correct? ok ONE more question ... is anything at Aruba DF a particularly good bargain? I know, so many questions ... thanks for any responses to any or all of them. |

the Baileys Irish Creme is a good deal at aruba duty free
that is all i look at sorry. correct you go to the duty free during your trek thru the aruba airport..... they wrap it sufficiently/appropriately. i am uncertain of the allowance dh and i always each buy a bottle of baileys they do wrap it in bubblewrap and then bag it.

Does it then have to go into your suitcase or can you hand carry on board?

Prices were decent at the AUA duty free.... nothing spectacular. I do love the dutch Gouda and always pick up a 3 pack before leaving!

if i remember correctly CARRY on is an option.
we had room in our checked luggage. so, we bought the baileys and then pciked up our luggage prior to customs.....packed it in the luggage. hauled the luggage thru customs. dumped it on the conveyor belt and we were done. but our friend charlie had only carry on and was flying back to tampa via miami. he held his scotch in his daypack and that went onto the plane with him as carryon.

i just asked DH about us buying the baileys when we were there in january.
he reiterated to me the scenario that i said earlier we bought it, they bubble wrapped and then bagged it. we then carried it, picked up our luggage, went thru customs and then stuffed it in our checked bags. put the bags on the conveyor and were on our way. i wonder why we did it different than you? cool. thanks for all the replies. so as i understand it i go to the DF shop pre-customs and buy the booze, they pack it and hand it to me either pre- or post-customs, where I can either stuff it in my bags or check it as-is, but I can't carry it on because I'm changing planes in Atlanta. correct?
anyone know what the allowance is? |
