Our friend gets a lot of her Carnival supplies from here:

    https://www.linkedin.com/company/mas...partment-store

She said textiles are REALLY expensive because nothing is made locally (i.e. everything is imported). So getting a "local" fabric might not be possible given that there's no textile industry to speak of.

    Good luck!

    from the aruba yellow pages

    http://arubayp.com/Aruba/Fabric-Shops (2 listed)

i went on a yarn hunt in aruba during one visit.
i had made an afghan for the son of a friend.
after awhile the child had made a hole in it and i need to repair it.
i was unable to find any yarn at any store.

I will admit I do not know anything about needing fabric but having said that, perhaps if you see a gorgeous pareo made in Aruba or the islands, you could purchase that and use it for the fabric. I bought a beautiful hand sewn with flowers one there for like $10. I mean I wear it as a pareo & sometimes as a skirt w/slip. but its technically just a rectangle piece of fabric.

You might not find a fabric made in Aruba.

BUT: you might find a fabric like SILK which an artist in Aruba used to create a silk painting or a silk scarf or a silk cape etc.

Oh God no I never expected to find fabric from Aruba..... No textile mills there 
perhaps looking for Egyptian cottons, etc from Holland, things they import that I couldn't get my hands on at home.

This listing says the import textiles but not specifically from Holland... might be worth a shot though! And I'm sure it'll make for a good story...
