Re: Noble Jewlers
This topic has been discussed many times here over the past few yrs. Some love it at one outlet others do not. Good and bad have been circulated about almost every jewelry
store in Aruba.
Bigger stores like Columbian Emeralds, Little Switzerland etc. have employess that are not the most experienced people in many facets of jewelry. Some are to a point but no matter what you ask to see, they will tell you its perfect! You need to get to know an owner of a store or a long time manager there and make your wants known up front as to quality and how much you want to spend.
No matter how it is presented to you as in a special sale, etc. etc. your only going to get at best, what you pay for! These owner/managers have many 100's of friends and some people tend to think they are special to the owners and they get special treatment.
The flavor of selling in Aruba has been for a long time, to make customers feel comfortable and unique in the friendship dept. and the customer begins to feel he or she is getting something extra special that no one else can get! WRONG!
Thats why you read a lot of name dropping like, mention my name and you'll get a better deal. Yea Right!
The object is to make a purchase that is of comparable quality for a better price.
I'd shop in Shivas or Ram/Bijou's across from the mall downtown on the side street.
Get semi expensive purchases etc. in writing as to quality and return options. If they wont give you what you what to see in writing, pass.
Ram/Bijou will give a full yr. trade up for full paid price on any diamond piece.
I bought a $1200.00 mens ring there and traded it for a higher priced one for full value the following yr.
Diamonds are recirculated and reused all the time. Of course they wont be accepted if damaged in any way.
Only rare special requests for extremely expensive stones are generally ordered and are cut to the request...or acquired from another major diamond source out of the country to accommodate the costumer.
I dont think anyone can accurately tell you if the raw stones some jewelers show you under high intensity light are "new" first cut stones or are they reused and recirculated. Loretta's $3500.00 bust is a ton of money to get burned for. Nash Noble has been a good reputable dealer but he has had some real bad problems in the recent past with sales people conducting business improperly in many ways.
Two of them have left the island completely.
Curious, Loretta, did you go back to Nash personally? Possibly it still can be corrected to your liking.
