    Price smart shopping

Even though we shop at Ling & Sons, the last few years we have been going to Price Smart (you will see it when you leave the airport) for our larger items such as cases of beer, soda, juices. It is like BJ or Cosco. You have to buy by bulk. We are there for 2 weeks, that gets expensive if you go out every night and eat and drink. They will give you a one day pass with your drivers license. You can go back as many times as you want and they will give you another pass. They have wonderful meat everything is very good there. Then go to Ling & Sons for all the smaller items when you need them.

yes a good option of you are willing to make a couple or few trips to grocery stores....lings, price smart etc..
totally not convenient though for many ...especially if they have to take a taxi.

we have stopped there a few times to purchase cases of soda and or beer, but not in recent years.

years ago, they accepted the costco card and day passes were not required if one had a valid costco card.
unfortunately they did away with that plan of accepting the costco card.

Hmm - we paid for the pricesmart membership a few times. I had no clue they would give you a day pass. May have to do that next time... There are a few items there I enjoy.

what would a day pass cost? and what is the difference in price for a case of beer as opposed to lings. in other words, is it worth it just for soda & beer to pay for a day pass.

It is free for the day pass. It is so worth it. Just need room in your car to take things back to where your staying. There is a bigger beer selection there. Off the top of my head, I cannot remember the prices of a case of beer. It is always more money in Aruba. If you need diapers or larger items such as that go there and buy it. We go as soon as we get our car we stop there first before we even check in.

It is my understanding that if you are not a member, you are accessed a 15% surcharge on your purchases when using the daily pass.

I am a member and I purchased many large appliances such as a washer, dryer, refrigerator, etc., for my home. It is definitely worth the yearly membership if you use it enough.

there is no large supermarket in the hi rise area.
there is Superfood across from the Tropicana in the Lo rise/Eagle section

there are Lings, Certified and Kong Hing (sp?) further down in the Eagle area just beyond the Tamarijn

Lings seems to be the most popular
