Is there a store near the Marriott where we could pick up some basics - bread, cheese, crackers, beer or are we better of stopping at a grocery store on our way from the airport?

There are convenience stores in the Ocean Club and the Surf Club but they are VERY expensive. You will pass several grocery stores on your way from the airport. We always go to one of them (usually Ling and Son's) to stock up. They have great selections and the prices are reasonable.

the KUNG FUI store on palm beach rd, although NEW and LARGE is pretty poorly stocked.
i have been in there a few times in august and in december and i was disappointed.
i felt their bakery section and their frozen food section was 20% of what lings was.
their dairy section was quite empty as well.

maybe as the place become more established and know it will have abetter supply.
