Thrift Stores?

I am on the island for a year while my husband attends school. I've been wondering if there are any thrift or Goodwill-type stores anywhere? I want to make our apartment feel more like a home without spending an arm and a leg.
So far, haven't come across any place for used goods other than porch sales
