Over theyears it has been mostly jewelry for the DW.Each year we would by another piece of the set.The Australian opals have that vibrant turquoisecolor. So she has earrings, slides, ring, and bracelet of that opal.Recently going the Caribbean opal route. For myself, I started with a coin necklacefrom 1622 France.I still have that andrecent purchases have been necklace coins from the treasure ships “Louisa” and “Atocha”.Also bought a good money clip for all mywinnings at the casino---or not. We splurge if we see something unique or notavailable in the States. DW still likes a certain perfume that she always getsdown there because it’s getting harder to find locally. We probably could getit from Amazon, but there goes the romance.
years ago...(1999?) Paul bought me a diamond tennis bracelet (at little switzerland) and a few years later we had a ring made to match my mother's diamond wedding band at kays. i got paul a gold chain with a cross at kays.
I don't buy anything big in Aruba either. Instead, I bring little presents to my friends there, have a wonderful time and many treasured memories. And I make generous donations to help the dogs, cats and donkeys of Aruba.
On our very first trip to Aruba( we were guests at my friends Timeshare), we were lucky enough at the Casino, back then at La Cabana( now its gone), to win almost 10 K, and we purchased a timeshare of our own- at PBV, and next year we added another week 51,52,,,And few years back , as a present to my wife- I bought a Cartier ring, some of the styles, you will never see in US, and that one was one of them...
I thought I answered this before, but can't find my post. If this is a repeat, please forgive.
On our honeymoon we bought a giant fur rug that we used as a wallhanging (I know, weird, but we were young). I have no memories of how we got it home but it is circular and at least 5 feet in diameter with different shades of brown fur. It hung on our wall for many years until we repainted, and it never got put back up. Hmmmmm. Need to find that.
My favorites are jewelry. DH bought me a stack ring in 1992 or so. I still wear it everyday
I think it's my favorite piece of jewelry. This past trip we purchased a tennis bracelet with the same 3 gemstones.
DH has also gotten a watch or two when we've been shopping in Aruba. We previously bought Blue Delft pieces for my mother-in-law each year. But she has told us that she has more than enough now.
