Smile I Hear You My Friend

    [QUOTE=dirtbound;183739]@Arubalisa

I'm new to this board & just beginning to plan our trip to Aruba in October.

I sympathize with your Bus Issues, you're not alone.

I must admit I saw myself writting your thread and frankly it scared me.

I'm just goin to chill and figure I'm on vacation, it's a small island, how lost can I get....

BUT If you do get a good map I'd want to see it.

    Enjoy your trip.

First time renting a vehicle in Aruba, any good places to get road maps?
The Borch map is as good as any Aruba map, but of course does not detail every bus stop.

Yeah... That's the one I have... Waterproof 1:50,000 scale decent detail with good "zoomed in" shots on the reverse.

    Very good map.

    Airport to Bucuti

Anyone know the route/routes I would use to get from the Airport to Bucuti? We'll probably end up just grabbing a Taxi, but if the bus is sitting there... hey. :-)

    Any help would be awesome.

    Thanks

here is the thread from airport to costa linda.
    airport driving directions
costa linda is right next door to bucuti.
all of the taxi drivers know how to get there.

the place where the taxis line up to pick up passengers is approximately 400+ yds away from the main road where the bus stop is located.

...and keep in mind the De Palm buses at the airport are different from the public buses which are out at the main road outside of airport grounds. De Palm bus transfer must be booked in advance and runs about $20 pp each way.

For the public bus, you would need to walk the .4 mile (.67 km) off the airport property http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=12.50481&lon=-70.0077045&z=18&l=0&m=h&gz=0;-700085896;125037417;9227;4451;27519;0;27573;5132;2 7305;6860;25964;8746;18882;13773;11962;16968;6759; 18225;0;19587;804;23776

Taxi from the airport to Costa Linda is $22. That is per fare and not per person. There is an additional charge of $3 for Sundays and holidays.

and a reminder..........if one has luggage (something larger than carry on) the arubus driver has the right to deny passage due to the fact that luggage is a hinderance and takes up much needed space that is for passengers.
