I'd be careful, not all VISA cards provide this coverage. I believe only the premium VISA cards offer that service. In the old days, it was the gold and platinum cards that offered this.

Arubalisa, Thanks for the tip. I just signed up with Amex for $19.95 for $75,000.00 coverage for damage/theft, accidental death, excess medical ins. and $2,500.00pp personal property ins. w/max $5,000.00. After reading a few posts lately you never know. I love the tips on this forum.

some of the trip cancellation insurance policies include car insurance as well.
i urge all of you to read the benefits b4 buying trip cancellation.
access america insurance has a plan including car insurance.

Just spoke to AMEX and the $24.95 for the premium auto ins. is available (12/11). However, I was told it does not cover liability: this should be purchased from rental agency. They also explained that I could register for it and it would only go into effect when I rented a vehicle. If I was to rent through an online company (e.g., hotwire, Expedia) I would need to call to let them know.
