Charlie's Bar

After 26 years we are finally gonna make the pilgrimage to Charlie's Bar. Does the public bus system run there from the low rise area? Renting a vehicle is not an option due to the fact that we don't have a designated driver in the bunch. I guess a cab is always an option but we are travelling as 3 couples. Thanks!!

im sure there's a bus that runs the course from downtown. a cab ride would be cost prohibitive. i can't imagine how much they'll charge you considering a ride to flying fishbone/old man is $30-35 one way - and that's 1/2 way to charlie's bar!

Yes, 3 couples, 2 taxi's expensive. Before you go make sure they will be open. pretty sure closed on Sun. & might not open until 1 or so on some other days.

Mmm... the shrimp scampi dish there is sublime and the hot sauce was awesome! A little expensive - but worth it!

They are closed on Sundays and they open around 11:15am the rest of the week. And if you want the steak sandwich (which is my favorite with honeymoon sauce) you need to order it before 12:45pm (don't know why but you do - LOL!)

I stopped there on a "guided tour," but that was many years ago. Quite an interesting place/area.

They are serious about the 12:45 sandwich... my wife asked for one at 1:30 and the waiter simply said "too late", she laughed and he said he was serious. lol

Oh well

Oh, I know! I've been turned down after 12:45pm, too, so now we always make sure we get there in time! LOL!!

On this past trip, I ordered the steak sandwich (we were sitting at our usual bar spots), he looks at his watch and I immediately said "It's only 12:20".

Thanks for the 411, especially regarding the eats there. Looks like I gotta do a little research once there regarding public transportation. Maybe Bully can hook us up a little. Thanks again!!
