Check points

The last several evenings, I've noticed the police have set up check points along the main highway near the hotels, the road from Balashi to Santa Cruz, and also not far from the the new circle at Pos Chikito. You'll see bright blue flashing LED's and then a couple of cruisers or motorcycles. Sometimes they pull people over, sometimes not. Either way, it is doing a good measure to slow down the racers and other dangerous actors who have plagued the island's roads. It's a good sight to see... unless you're one of those fools with total disregard for the rules of the road.

One thing they are checking on is the new license plates. You have
until April 1st to get them. I see a lot of old orange plates out
there. Don't know if it has to do with the gov't looking to
see if you have car insurance a little closer.

Happens every year around this time.
