DH doesn't want me to drive

We have always used taxis to get around as neither of us were comfortable driving. However, we've had a number of trips and we're more familiar where things are so I mentioned I would like to rent a car and would be willing to drive Tom wants no part of it I would have liked to get to the Flora store or take a drive to SanNicolas. I have 11 months to convince him!

We rent cars now and both of us drive without much worry. We love the freedom a car gives us especially for spontaneous trips to the store, quick trips downtown and of course exploring other parts of the island. It's just like driving anywhere, be aware and drive safely. Work on Tom, you have plenty of time.

Peg, You drive in Massachusetts where we are known for offensive driving techniques.... you can drive anywhere... especially Aruba!

In MA we don't use the turn signal because it gives the other drivers an unfair advantage!

paul and i feel very comfortable driving. however, we are very cautious especially at night.
next time you visit aruba, insist that you rent a car for just 24 hrs. during that time, visit the flora store AND san nic and whatever else you can squeeze in.
you both may get a better feel with a 24 hour rental and then maybe the next visit you can try for a longer period or not.

always be aware of others, honestly the driving skills of many are poor.
god forbid if it rains, bald tires with oil on the road always creates a problem.

Andrea is correct about evenings, especially driving to san nicolas.
cab drivers? rather drive my own vehicle!

I was thinking about a 24 hour rental. I think he's concerned about not being familiar with the signage. I've been driving him into downtown Boston for the last year and a half because he doesn't like to drive in town. I would think Aruba would be a breeze. We also dine out early so we wouldn't really be doing any night driving. I don't mind the taxis but guess I'm itchy to do a little exploring in our own.

I just told Tom we could rent a car for 24 hours. His response. ..."What am I going to do while your diving around Aruba?"

and your response could be .........you will haul yourself into the car and sit quietly and we will have fun.....put that seat belt on and let's go!

sometimes our husbands need our guidance.......... we just have to wear them down til they agree out of pure exhaustion.

Sorry if I minimized the need for safety...... caution is always important. Drive.... but be safe and aware of the other drivers... especially those that are less experienced.
