    Fourth tram arrived in Aruba

    Announcement in Amigoe

    Google translation:

    Fourth tram arrived in Aruba

    Friday, February 26th, 2016 14:34

ORANJESTAD - The fourth and latest tram arrived in Aruba yesterday afternoon. It is a red double-decker and thus the fleet Arutram comes in two regular and two double-deckers. One is always reserve, the other three were carrying since the beginning of 2013 more than 350,000 passengers through the city. The colors of the trams (red, blue, green and orange) are derived from the national coat of arms of Aruba. The project of the tram, which is intended mainly for tourists from the cruise terminal to repeal the city, is part of the large-scale renovation of the downtown area.

That's great. The last four times that we were on the island it wasn't running. Maybe with a fourth one we'll stand a better chance of going for a ride.

That's funny, I was thinking the same thing. Every time we've been there and tried to get a ride it wasn't running.

I find it odd that it is called a tram.
Or is it odd that I call it a trolley?

No.....tram is derived from trame in old Dutch. It referred to a centre rail with a cart like device. Americanized to trolley and that term also used in th UK

Seems to be more than enough, especially since it never seems to be running when we are there. But we're switching up our visit times this year, so maybe we'll get lucky. It's not so much we have to ride it, we just want the t-shirt

I'm not sure I understand why they need more than one. There's only the one track on the island.

I was surprised that already more than 350,000 passengers took a ride on the tram. Maybe they bring them out when the cruise ships are there?

Is it even possible to have more than just one tram out and running? According to this map there is just one smaller loop, for the rest it seems the tram has to come back the same way:

Here is a link with some very nice photos of the different trams:
