    Heavy traffic

With the closing of the highway today for the construction of the roundabout at the intersection at Superfood the traffic situation was heavy on the other roads. Really noticeable

We went to Rogers Beach today. We left here around 1030 and the road was still open. They were clearing brush on the side road that our driveway is on and replace burnt our street lights.

However, come back was a different story. We arrived at the corner near Lings around 515 or so and made the left on to Irausquin. The traffic on Irausquin, waiting for the light was backed up almost to Alhambra. We continued on and traffic came to a stop just past Screaming Eagle. It took 7 minutes to get to Oceania from that point. It did clear out by 600-615. There were lots of cars backed up past Oceania on the road coming from the roundabout. People would turn around and either take the dirt road behind Oceania or the street that leads to Tropicana's casino.

I really don't know why they just didn't wait until after Easter. It'll be a real mess once they start camping on the beach. I'm glad we'll be home by then.

    GOOD NEWS!(for now)

It seems like they have opened LG Smith Blvd. We did not see the huge amount of traffic we were expecting and hubby looked to see traffic flowing in both directions around the roundabout this morning. A few minutes ago two fire alarm techs were here to change a smoke detector and they said they heard they cancelled the project due to traffic. They said backups yesterday were 30-60minutes. I am guessing it isn't cancelled, just postponed to a quieter time on the island or until they can figure out a better system of routing traffic.

I'll take sitting in traffic in Aruba over another snow blast any day.

    thanks robin!
i got a message late yesterday that the Smith Blvd was to be reopened and that portion of the project delayed.
in light of rona's report and misinformation I held off saying anything because I did not believe it.
i hope they hold off to at least after easter.

    please keep us posted robin!

    thank you so much.

I went to Super Foods this afternoon and everything but the street that is between Amsterdam Manor and the Blue is open. That street is closed and they have construction equipment working. The barricade is in a arch, so maybe they are working on creating that part of the roundabout? I asked at Super Foods and they don't know what is going on either, or at least the cashier didn't know.
