"The area at Zoutmanstraat and Oranjestraat has been closed for traffic with barricades for the past few weeks. Changes have been made in the traffic flow and a few construction and restoration projects are to start soon in this part of downtown Oranjestad. Among others, the road behind the government’s offices (bestuurskantoor) will be eliminated. The barricades were replaced Thursday evening with large cement planters which cannot be moved without the help of heavy equipment, thus “permanently” blocking the road."

Ok, just so I am clear....this is supposed to help with traffic ????? How so exactly..

Perhaps taxidriver can help on this one, but I "think" this all has to do with future plans for the Linear park and making downtown Oranjestad more pedestrian friendly.

The Grand Carnival route is being changed as well.

maybe so, but unless I am thinking of the wrong street....isnt this the one that goes past matilda's....well actually I guess this will keep folks from going around and then coming up by mambo jambos.....???????
