    local car rentals

We usually rent from the rental agency at airport like avis, national etc. Are there any who you recommend on the island that are more local? I have gotten a quote from Tropics? We will be going this year from 1 Feb-7 Feb. We own a timeshare at Divi Links and always rent a car.

here are many car rental threads
one of the very common denominators are many thumbs up for TROPIC

my husband and i rent from Tropic at least 2 times a year since 2000.

i prefer giving my business to small business as opposed to franchise places like avis/hertz/national etc

I tried to search first but was unsucessful. Yes I prefer the local companies as well. We just returned from one week at SXM in which we used a local company with great sucess. There forums actually list sponsers who sponser there site with various car rental info, restaurants, tours etc. People of course still ask---(like me.) Thanks.

No you are correct TROPIC is not listed. Not sure why, (??) Now is this the company when people refer to "Hans?"

We've rented from Econo rental. I would rent from them again, except that you can have only one driver unless you pay to have an extra driver. I know that Hans allows two drivers for the same price as one, and Ace does too. Hans is always booked when I want to reserve with him. I read the most recent reviews on Ace and they were not positive. Does anyone else know of any other rental company on island that allows you to have two drivers? I'm trying to reserve for our upcoming trip in late September.

I never drive in Aruba, only DH does so it does not matter to me. I never even had asked about it when I have rented previously it is a non issue for me. I did drive on a "girls trip" before. It not at all stressful and it is pretty easy to navagate the island. Not like some others I have visited.

I've used Aruba Royal for many years now with no problems - there have been a few times when the vehicle I was renting wasn't available, but they have always come thru with a simliar car quickly. They are always very prompt in email responses and are also located off-airport property and pick you up/drop you off at the airport
