I wonder if or how this will affect those of us who rent a car for the entire visit and stay at the Renaissance Ocean Suites.

    i have the same thoughts.
there will be business and resident permits issued.
maybe a certain amount of spaces will be delegated for renaissance guest.

There is a sign at the little parking lot across from the huts downtown that says free parking for patrons of Crystal Casino. I don't remember seeing that before.

This is just too bad. But that is what a tourist area does... believe me, I live in one. And don't be surprised when the fee sky-rockets once they figure out the tourists will pay it without question...

I've seen the sign before but haven't seen the parking/security guy there.

All hotels offer parking for their guests. Parking anywhere on the Island is not a problem

Ugh... I don't like them. I know them too well from living in Germany and Switzerland. It's a pain in the butt. They charge by the hour! Some allow parking only for two hours, then the car has to be moved. If the time is up and the car is still there, they will give a ticket. Many cities have them, it has nothing to do with tourism, it's just another way for the cities to collect money (from parking and the tickets for being late).

When on vacation in Aruba, I went almost every day to Oranjestad and parked almost always at the Marketplace Mall. I LOVED the free paring and having peace of mind.
