The largest increase appears to be 1.75 Afl, which is a $1. The people I feel bad for are people that take the bus to go to work in a lower paying job...$1 increase each way does not mean much to most of us but if we had limited cash and commuted to work, the extra $10 a week would be a big expense for sure for someone on a budget.

Yes, I believe it is $1 increase for a roundtrip ticket on the bus. Well, with the new parking meters, and an increase in bus fare, can a taxi fare hike be far behind? When timeshare owners start eating out less, or start eating within walking distance of their units, this will have a direct effect on the restaurant business.

Arlene, I will respectfully disagree. I don't think the fare increase of a dollar will affect the time-share owners or those of us who stay in a hotel. A ride from Palm Beach to eagle is only $8 and if they made it $9 the only person that will suffer is the taxi driver because they may now get only a dollar tip from someone instead of at least $2. The taxi rates are very reasonable IMO and probably should be increased.

I believe the subject is Arubus fare, not taxi fares.

It's a buck round trip. I can't imagine it affecting the average tourist. $5.00 is a pretty good deal if one can swallow their pride and enjoy an Arubus downtown and back. We rode the bus exclusively our first couple of trips, from Palm Beach to Oranjestad to San Nicholas and back. We loved the experience, and it might be time to enjoy it again. I do feel for the locals, but it doesn't appear that the local rate increase is as much, just a few Florin.
