    Tipping cab drivers

Does anyone know if they work fro themselves? I was wondering if they did was a tip really necessary. I see some with radios in their cars, but i swear some of them just drive around looking for people to give rides too. Which is great, but if they are working for themselves, i dont know if i should tip them

imo absolutely they should be tipped.
the few taxi drivers that i know work for themselves.
i think many of them do work for themselves.

they all have huge expenses.....cost of vehicle (maybe a car loan), upkeep of vehicle, gas, insurance.

but, if you do not feel the service that your driver provides does not warrant a tip, then do as you feel what needs to be done.

the government sets the rates for taxi services.

I agree with Andrea --- even if they are self employed, I would tip them. The government strictly controls the rates they charge and the tip means a lot to them making a profit. Gas/licensing/maintenance are not not cheap in Aruba.

Yes, the cab drivers should be tipped!

One things that continually impresses me year after year is how impeccably clean and well maintained the cabs in Aruba are. And the cab drivers are always friendly and helpful.

Another 'Agree with Andrea' here! Always tip for good service... we've never had a 'bad' taxi driver in Aruba! Another consideration..... these folks are not 9-5 people and I don't imagine the compensation w/o tips provides a great living. But that aside, good service should be rewarded and poor service....not!

also too when a customer/fare hires a taxi in aruba, the customer can and should check with the driver for a price list.

samy enjoy your stay on the beautiful island of aruba
