    tropic car rental

    I am renting a car from tropic this April, I just received this email today, I don't see this as an issue, just an FYI

    This letter is to inform you of changes made by the Aruba Airport Authority.
    The Aruba Airport Authority is reducing the number of car rental companies allowed
    to do business from a kiosk at the airport from 22 to 10. The companies wishing to do
    business at the airport were required to send in their bids. From the 18 companies that
    sent in their bids, 10 were chosen and agreed with the new lease agreement.
    This lease agreement results in a considerable increase of the monthly rents, introduction
    of an airport tax and other secondary conditions stipulated by the airport.
    To protect those rental companies that will do business at the airport,
    the Aruba Airport Authority does not want other car rental companies
    to conduct business at the airport.
    As a result of these changes, Tropic Car Rental is no longer
    allowed to do the paperwork in the public parking lot, as we did in the past, therefore
    the paperwork must be done in advance.
    We have decided on the following solution. Click on the link below,
    password and username is tropic and the contract will open on your screen please fill
    out the form. Print two copies and bring these with you to Aruba with a signature of the driver
    and of any additional driver. We will take one copy upon your arrival the other one is yours.
    We will then guide you to your car in the public parking area, from that point you can go
    straight to your destination in Aruba.
    If you deny the insurance, please verify with your credit card company that you will be covered for the whole rental period in case of an accident, some credit cards cover for only 15 days.
    The cardholder has to be listed as the primary driver even when she/he
    doesn’t gone drive in Aruba.
    As in the past, we are committed to make your car rental experience as stress free as possible.

    Rented from them in November and got the same biggie, just print it out fill it in, keep a copy for you and give them one. easy-peeesy !!!

    We got the same letter last trip. Just like danadog says, fill it out and have two copies one for you, one for Hans.

    We use them every year and it's been this way for many years now. Really no issue at all! They used to be able to wait I the arrival hall and the last few trips had to wait outside. If you have trouble finding Hans or Denis just ask one of the other car rental guys and they will help you out.

    Interesting, we never did paperwork at the airport with Optima. I never considered that an option.

    The airport allows no paperwork to be done by car rental companies that do not have an office on airport property.
    The way Tropic handles the paperwork works well!

    The airport authority is more interested in making money than accommodating tourists. This entire deal was set up to force visitors to use the rental agencies at the airport because they get a fee off those rentals and don't from the others. We have used Tropic 7 of the last 8 years(would have used him on the 8th but he did not have any cars) and the first couple of times he met us at the airport entry hall. The last several times he has met us across the street. You meet him and he takes you to the car and you give him your signed paperwork and he gives you the keys and a paid parking stub to exit the parking lot. Hassle free.
