We Need a Van - 6 Passenger

Traveling as party of 6 in April....a bad number with Aruba's restrictive taxi passenger laws.

Thus, trying to find a 6+ passenger van for rent. Usually rent from Thrifty, but their van options are limited, too big and too costly.

Have heard in the Forum about good Avis deals....but can't find on-line....no vans shown.

Suggestions??

The great deals that we got from Avis are long gone. Some of us got a deal of lifetime on rentals from Avis.Sorry to say if you want a van from Avis you are going to pay full price. The first van i had was loaded with Roach's,when I returned it they gave me this really nice van.Anyway For two weeks i only paid $200.

Thanks Lisa....looks reasonable.

Has anyone used them? Where are they located? Do they pick-up and drop-off at hotel?

If you are not picking up at the airport, Amigo is located on Schotlandstraat. Dh said he thinks you turn left after Lings, the street that runs parallel to LG Smith Blvd. They will pick you up at the Ren and drive you back to their office to do the paperwork and the vice versa on return.

Hi Rob,
If you remember when we picked you up, our van wasn't in the best condition but I really didn't expect the best van at the bargain basement price we got. Having said that, we were very pleased with the service from Avis.

This trip we got a rather beat up van but again, for $300 for 3 weeks, we were not expecting their top of the line vehicle for that price. Obviously, we realize that the best vans are going to the regular paying customers. Aside from the exterior, the van works great and is very spacious. It is actually a 8 seater. They use Hyundai vans (or the three we have had were) and have lots of seating inside. Not sure if you remember?

Anyway, we are going to rent from Avis in December as they have been good to deal with so far.

Rob, when I go to Aruba and bring my kids and their friends, I end up getting two rental cars instead of a van. If everyone is driving age (23 for rental cars in Aruba) then that is the more practical solution. The vans were too expensive and the ones I found could not hold enough people. Anyway, just a thought. National is pretty reasonable. Good luck.

rob and cindy

if you go with 2 car rentals

i would suggest TROPIC

proprietor is Hans Dhooge

his email is
tropoccarrent@setarnet.aw

paul and i have been thrilled with his cars and his services for a long time.

and i do think the 2 vehicles will give you folks flexibility and able to split up and meander off without leaving the crowd back at the REN "wheelless"

Andrea...thanks for the thoughts on 2 cars...problem being its for us only...rob, I, girls and my parents...not for the 24 of us...My folks aren't that adventureous that they would take off and cruise aruba as we would. We will be playing tour guide for them and taking them to long distance restaurants.

Wow....how do I get such a deal?? Couldn't find it on-line. The van you had would be great for us.
