We do not rent a car, but for one day. More economical to just uses taxis at night when the car is going to be in the parking lot all day while we are on the beach. BUT I know there are people who like to have "wheels" to get up and go whenever they like. To each his own.

Yep, we are some of those people! On all of our trips except our first trip, we have rented a car for our entire stay. While the taxi's and buses are reasonable and easy to use, we do like the flexibility to explore on a whim!

As Lisa said, "to each his own."

We are still THINKING of renting a car but only for one day. Most of the stuff we want to do is where our hotel is. and the one day we want to go downtown--we will bus it to get the local flavor so to speak.

we always rent a car.
sometimes have put on as little as 85 km in the week or 10 days of the rental.

it is one of those weird things.................gotta HAVE wheels, even if we only use it for going out to dinner and then to casinos.

(off topic but auto related..........we just retired and moved to maine. dh said to me last week, "what do you say we cut down to just on vehicle instead of 2?" i said "not a chance")

gotta have them wheels!

I'm like Andrea - I need wheels. I like the convenience of jumping in a car at the spur of the moment. I have friends on the island and I never know when I want to go to have a visit. I think I spend more time on vacation at Ling & Sons then I do the supermarket at home. Love that store.

We too, always rent a car (from Tropic, I might add!!) We enjoy just having one at our disposal.."just in case" we want to head downtown or to San Nicholas, etc. We like to drive through the residential areas near the lighthouse and even though this will be our 12th visit to Aruba, and it is quite a small island, there are still areas that are left to 'explore'.

We have always rented a car. The first year we just rented for 3 out of the 10 days we were there and that was plenty (we were on our honeymoon and didn't venture out too much ). When we did finally get out to see the island, we decided that when we returned, we would rent a car/jeep for the whole trip...and that's what we've done every year since. Like a lot of others, we like the freedom to come and go whenever the mood strikes.

On our first few trips we would only rent a car for about 3 days. Now we rent a car for the entire time we're on the island - mainly because we like to visit friends and like to get out and about whenever the mood strikes us.
