    First Timer's to Aruba!!

Hello to all...my wife has decided to take us to Aruba for my 50th birthday (11/16). We will be at the Divi from 11/14 to 11/18. Trying to read through this forum and anywhere I can get info about the fascinating and beautiful island, Aruba. Not exactly sure what we plan to do while we're there, but I'm sure at some point we will rent a Jeep for a day and explore, then one day/night tour downtown. Other than that, likely to be lying on the resort beach with plenty of adult beverages!! Any and all suggestions are welcomed and maybe we will cross paths!!

Brian, Welcome to the forum...Happy Birthday !!!
We will be in Aruba the same time and I will be celebrating a birthday as well. Maybe our paths will cross as we own at Divi and hang out in the front pool quite a bit..
As Jacki mentioned there is tons of info to be found here on the forum.....so many things to suggest so I will just offer up one easy one........
Take lots of sunscreen and hang at the pool with an aruba ariba or white sand, both drinks are yummy !! Also be sure to stop over at Jimmy's bar at the beach for happy hour !!!
    Have fun....see you there !!!!

Thank you for the warm welcome!! We are both very excited about this trip. Not alot of time, but we plan on trying to do/see as much as we can. danadog56...we can buy each other a beverage for our birthdays!! Would love to meet up with anyone who is interested. As I mentioned, we're planning on doing a day in a Jeep, so if anyone's interested in tagging along, We'd love the company and guidance.

A couple of questions while I'm here...is it legal to walk the streets with an open alcoholic beverage? Places to not miss and/or avoid on our Jeep day? We have our own snorkel gear, but should we bring it or use what's available at resort or wherever?

you had mentioned that you would be staying at the the DIVI. if it is the Divi AI, then they have snorkel and watersports equip for guests to use. i am uncertain if they allow the snorkel gear to be taken off site though. if you have room, bring your own.

if you are going to rent a jeep for a day you can incorporate some shore snorkel sites ....catalina cove, baby beach for snorkeling. while you have the vehicle you can visit the california lighthouse, the natural bridge areas, the gold mine ruins, alto vista chapel, the arikok national park, all of this can be done in one day and at the arikok, i do not advocate for off roading on your own......i urge folks to be on a tour.

i do not know about walking the streets with an open alcoholic beverage, but i do know that having them on the beach is allowed.

Hi Brian and Debbie! Welcome to the forum! As for walking around with an open container, on the beach it's no big deal, I recommend plastic containers and not glass. We take red solo cups with us and don't hesitate to walk to dinner with a drink on the streets of Palm Beach. We try to be discrete, I don't walk down the street pouring shots from a bottle of Fireball... now on the bar at Moomba, well it was only that one time... And don't worry if you don't get to do everything this trip, you'll be back... everybody comes back

Thanks for the info. As for walking around with beverages, I was thinking like they do in Key West where it is technically not legal, but allowed as you walk along the street between shops and such. As is usually the case, don't draw attention to yourself and you're usually ok. Issue with snorkel gear will be room in luggage. Have to wait and see how that goes. And just from spending time looking at this forum and other info sites, I can say with some certainty, we'll be back!!

PS...how do I get one of those cool ticker things on the bottom of my posts???
