I saw one of your pictures with the roulette table in the casino. Nice! Here are a few of the roulette chips pictured:

I have never seen one of the blue chips shown in the picture. Nice. Here is the original $1 rack chip that was used upon opening in 1959 and would have been in use the entire time you were in Aruba:

I believe I have the same matchbook you showed (ashtrays are just too hard to store for me, so I never got one of those). Here are my matchbooks:

Here is a swizzle stick. It could be from later in the 1960's. I have no idea how to date it (I also have a white one):

The history of the casino is probably an interesting one, though I only know it very superficially. It was originally managed by two gentlemen from Las Vegas, Clifford Jones and Jake Kozloff, who went on to start many casinos throughout the Caribbean including the original Holiday Inn casino in Aruba. I do not own this, but here is picture of a lighter from the Aruba Caribbean with Jake Kozloff's name on it:

Here are some dice I own that have the initials of both Jones and Kozloff (they used their initials on chips and dice throughout the Caribbean):

Jones and Kozloff were both prominent citizens of Las Vegas, holding political office and partnering in a significant law firm, as well as their ownership and involvement in many Las Vegas casinos. The rumor (or rather general belief) is, and I have no way to prove or disprove this, that they were fronts for Meyer Lansky.

I would love to read or see anything else anyone might know or have from those early days of the Aruba Caribbean Casino.

I love this thread! Great to hear from someone who was there on the inside.

I came across this fabulous FB site and this outstanding collection of 63 photos from the 60s:

In the late 50's/early 60's, did the Aruba Caribbean have a sign in front? I have never seen a picture showing the road-side of the early Aruba Caribbean or any picture of an Aruba Caribbean sign. Does anyone know of any pictures which might show a sign or lettering showing the name of the hotel?

Yes, it is a great thread. I had seen it, but did not remember seeing a sign. I guess the kids in Dutch dress are in front of a sign on the building somewhere. Does anyone know where that picture was taken? I would love to get a picture like that with no one in it.
