I'm only taking my windows tablet so wont be able to do any complex editing but I did want to at least upload a few of the "best of" video clips each day while on the Island!!
I'm posting this now to hopefully to spur/pressure me into actually doing it!!! LOL
I would be surprised if anyone knows, but are there any laws regulating drone/UAV(unmanned aerial vehicle) usage in Aruba?
My wife and I are professional videographers, recently picked up a drone for the business to be able to capture areial footage and I just cannot get enough of it.
With our Aruba trip planned for July I cannot stop thinking about what I could capture with this thing there.
What is it exactly?
A relatively small radio controlled helicopter with 4 propellers (quad copter) that totes around a stabilized goPro.
Trade-winds are a concern but the little thing is fairly intelligent, knows its location based on satellites and can easily handle (fly in and hover in place in) 20MPH and a little higher winds so I think I will be good most days/times...
Local laws, although I don't see it being a problem are another concern.
The wind definitely poses its challenges with every flight but I'm fairly versed in the flight controls so nothing to terrible so far.
Flying at the gold mine the other day (vid below) and as I flew over the top obviously ther is crazy turbulence inside and the drone got pushed down and it was literally all I could do to ascend fast enough before plowing into the side!!!
Today we were at eagle beach and against my better judgment I flew out about 1000 meters off shore to chase a boat... getting out was no problem due yo tail wind but getting back was a fight into the headwind and I got back just in time to safely land within my battery limitations!!
I'll be posting up more!! got a tour on the octopus tomorrow and already okayed it with jethro to bring on board!!! :-)
