Those old pictures were so interesting. This is what we love about this forum.

We spent 5 days of our honeymoon at the Aruba Caribbean in August, 1973. It was an amazing hotel, amazing beach and needless to say, a very different island. I remember the grating at the entrance to the hotel to keep out the goats. We loved Abuba then and still do now39 years later! If I can find my pictures-I think they were 35mm slides- I will post some.

The Old Windmill, the long-gone Spritzer and Furhrmann store, certain stones along the beach, anything to do with the old Aruba Caribbean Hotel. What a child remembers. Taps for the natural bridge.

Did u retain your aruban citizenship and how often do you visit aruba ? Welcome to the forum.
My mother was in love with the life she was finding in Palm Beach. No citizenship for me by '62, because my parents were both citizens (although my father was European-born). I'd almost be afraid to see Aruba now, as the Bond-era glamor I remember would be long passed on. Still, it might be nice... Sorry for not responding sooner. I don't get e-mail notifications from this forum.

We have a lot of pictures (of professional quality) from that time, if there's interest in them.

And I am also going to venture to say that cpjones is right behind me to second the motion!

What a great thread I've enjoyed reading it as we will be staying there for our first time on our next trip.

Our family lived at the Radisson (then Aruba Caribbean Hotel) 1960-1966. I was born at San Pedro's Hospital in 1962, so my earliest recollections are that of the hotel, which was wonderful to me.Radisson History/Old photos-aruba-caribbean-cigarette-box-01.jpg The hotel was such a prized item on the island that Spritzer + Fuhrmann (the most prominent jeweler with a store on the Island) issued a commemorative silver cigarette case decorated with the likeness of the hotel.

Radisson History/Old photos-roulette-player-aruba-caribbean-1959.jpgRadisson History/Old photos-bali-bar-color-corrected.jpgI've added a couple of fairly faded publicity slides, probably made in 1959. Glamorous travel in the jet age.
