When we got ours, we set it up in advance thru the hotel we were staying (Holiday Inn). They needed time to get things together, so advance notice would help.

Since the award is thru ATA & so is this board, maybe someone here can help.

Next Trip:
Sept. 9 - Oct. 29
Jan. 5 - ?????

We did the same as Tom & Karen. It was set up through the hotel we were staying at that year (Aruba Grand). The Grand took care of everything and had the ATA on site to present the certificate to us.

Try to get it done as early in your trip as possible because it will take a few days for your photo to be in the newspaper. You don't want to go home and not have a copy!

Is the certificate for 10 years or 10 trips? Do you simply tell the front desk at your hotel/resort? Thanks!

October 19th - we'll be b-a-a--c-k at the Ocean Club!

It's for 10 CONSECUTIVE trips (at least one per year.)

I would email your hotel/resort prior to your arrival so that they have time to set everything up.

do i understand correctly????
the award recipients candidates are the ones that initiate their own award process?

the award recipient candidates contact their resort and francis of the ata office and say:
"hello, i have been coming to beautiful aruba for 10 consecutive years and i would love to be awarded a certificate"

what am i not understanding?
i do understand that the ata cannot keep track and or records of the comings and goings of all tourists and their dates and years traveled.

please 'splain again, maybe i missed something.
i am still on my first cup of coffee and had to ban spammers 1st thing....so my brain is a bit mushy.

That's what we were told and what we did when we spent our 10th consecutive trip at the Aruba Grand.

However, on our 11th or 12th trip (can't remember which) and my girlfriend's 24th consecutive trip, Amsterdam Manor (where we were both staying) took it upon themselves to surprise us with the award at their mgr's cocktail party. We received the 10 yr. certificate again and my girlfriend received the 20 year certificate. So maybe it depends on how well you know the people at the resort that you stay at, too. The smaller ones know the people who have been coming back year after year and may initiate it like Amsterdam Manor did for us.

Did you finish that first cup of coffee yet?
